Dominic Cardenas, raised by a single mom who worked two jobs to support four kids, set his biggest goal as making her proud by going to college. Balancing academics, sports, and working to secure finances for his education was a constant challenge. Fortunately, Collegiate Crossings acted as his personal coach, helping him plan, apply, and secure the necessary funding for college, not only for himself but also for his older sister, who is now in grad school. His brother will be applying to college next year with the support of Collegiate Crossings, and there’s no doubt they will be there for his youngest sibling in a few years as well.

Dominic began his education in high school by taking culinary classes. He will be attending the University of Colorado, majoring in Business and exploring fields related to finance, hoping to master the fundamentals of money and business management. His goals include learning how to write a business plan, raise finances, and understand the ins and outs of running a business. In the long term, he aims to open his own business in the culinary industry.

Watching his mom work tirelessly to provide for the family has been Dominic’s biggest inspiration. Her dedication and perseverance have motivated him to pursue higher education as a means to improve his life and make her proud. Collegiate Crossings played a crucial role in making this dream a reality by guiding him through the complex process of college applications and securing funding.

Dominic’s journey hasn’t been easy, but it has been worth it. Working after school to contribute to his family’s finances and save for his education taught him invaluable lessons in time management and responsibility. Despite the challenges, he remained committed to his academics and sports, shaping his resilience and determination—qualities he will carry into college and beyond.
