Kylee Fennelly

In life, we all have struggles, and for Kylee Fennelly, these didn’t come in a tsunami but rather one wave at a time for her entire life. As a toddler, she was in physical therapy at an early age for hip issues. Later in life, she overcame multiple leg bone issues, spending much of her childhood in and out of casts. It was during that time that she came across a nurse at Boston’s Children’s Hospital who inspired her future career. As she grew, she overcame the issues with her bones, but then came the waves of gastrointestinal issues and anxiety. Kylee pushed through every challenge, partnering with her single-parent mom. Together, they always found a way to work through every obstacle as a team. Despite major disruptions in her schoolwork, Kylee persevered and is graduating with a 3.8 GPA. She is also a Certified Nursing Assistant and licensed in Phlebotomy and EKG. Moreover, she finds time to volunteer at the local food pantry and spend time with the elderly at Dwyer Home.

Kylee loved lacrosse and, although she started much later than most kids due to her physical challenges, she worked hard to make the teams she targeted. Sometimes, she was denied in tryouts but would come back the next year to try again after hitting the gym and training to be better. Then it all clicked and started to fall into place! She played on the varsity lacrosse team for all four years of high school. She knew she wanted to be a nurse and hoped to find a way to continue playing the sport she loves. With extensive school searches for a great nursing program, club or varsity lacrosse, and help with essays, Collegiate Crossings was a huge help in navigating to find the perfect fit. Kylee is now committed to Worcester State University in Massachusetts, the #1 nursing program in the state, and has a spot on the Women’s Lacrosse Team! Kylee wants to be the kind of nurse that helped her all those years ago—making someone feel a little lighter during a tough time of life.
